A little bit about Marie.
From a very young age, I’ve had a fascination with food; from making up imaginary restaurants, devising menus (and convincing my little sister to be the waitress), writing “reviews” on palm cards to document every restaurant I visited with my family and reading cookbooks like they were novels, it was a big part of everything that I did! Second to my passion for food, I loved to write. I filled exercise books with stories, sketches and ideas.
When I was a little older, I dreamt about travelling the world, eating at all the best restaurants and discovering exciting new cuisines as a food writer, never once considering the fact that this could be a reality. Instead, I went straight from high school to university and graduated with a psychology major, aspiring to be a clinical psychologist. About halfway through my post-graduate diploma, where I was studying and working full time, I decided that although I was passionate about mental health, the clinical path was not for me. In order to decide what I really wanted to do, I withdrew from my course and focused on work.
In my spare time, I ate! Weekends were best spent trying new cafes and catching up with friends over cocktails and a nice dinner. After filling up my camera roll with endless photos of food that never ended up anywhere, I decided to create a dedicated food instagram called feastinginsydney; purely a platform for me to share all of my delicious discoveries with friends and family. It was always in the back of my mind to start a blog, knowing that as a child my biggest obsessions were food and writing (and dogs!) but still, it was well over a year of feastinginsydney before I decided I would go for it.
So here we have Eats with Marie. Working in human resources by day, this is just the creative outlet I need to stay in touch with one of my greatest passions. I’m writing as much as I can, as often as I can, all whilst trying to learn the ropes of photography. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and getting to know me!
I love trying new things and am always on the lookout for restaurants, cafés and bars to visit, events, travel destinations and great, like-minded people to meet!
